After being stuck inside all winter, we’re here to tell you that Spring is around the corner! And with warmer weather and the anticipation of our children’s last day of school comes summer vacation. Have you had a moment to sit down and solidify your summer plans to keep the kids busy yet? With sunshine quickly approaching, we couldn’t be more excited to launch our annual Summer Camp Guide! We’re moms that understand the importance of summer camp to many families in + around Mid-Michigan. Our goal is to make your life a little easier by sharing a list of summer camps that you may want to learn a little more about. We have some wonderful and enriching programs just waiting for your child this summer!
YMCA Camp Copneconic
Since 1915, YMCA Camp Copneconic has served thousands of families as a place for fun, excitement and learning. Add 700 acres of beautiful, serene property, a medley of historical and modern facilities, and a long-standing reputation of caring staff, Camp Copneconic is truly the Genuine Article in the camping industry. As a year-round camp and retreat center, YMCA Camp Copneconic offers the best variety of programs that tailor to groups of many sizes and purposes. At camp, you are able to choose your programs, have a blast with Camp Copneconic’s exciting and passionate staff, and enjoy the serenity that radiates from every corner of their beautiful lake front location.
Offerings include School Programs, Youth Retreats, Special Events and Seasonal Camps throughout the fall, winter and spring seasons. Throughout summer season, Camp Copneconic offers a wide variety of both Day Camps and Overnight Camps.

Camp Fish Tales
Camp Fish Tales provides a unique and exciting outdoor learning experience where individuals with special needs interact and develop skills that enhance their health, abilities, independence and quality of life.

Camp Lael is located seven miles northwest of Lapeer in Oregon Township on 240 acres of wooded hills. Fields and open areas lend to spectacular views of the landscape. The camps structure emphasizes small groups, dividing sleeping areas into three villages, with cabins, meeting lodge, and bathhouse. Each cabin sleeps 12 and has electricity and heat. Camp Lael accommodates 175 people at once, providing program space, food service and recreation.
Located on quiet Skinner Lake, the camp offers swimming and boating as well as a network of trails on 160 acres of undisturbed woods and wildlife perfect for nature enthusiasts and mountain bikers. We are available to a variety of church, school and community groups, for summer camp, winter weekends, ecology programs, and retreats.
We are available for rent through out the year. Whether you are a small group of 10, or one numbering over 100, Camp Lael may have a spot for you. Give us a call and tell us your needs.
The Lael facility is owned by the American Baptist Churches of Michigan. Together we offer a summer camp program for children and youth ages 5-17 during the months of June and July. This program is licensed by the State of Michigan. All staff are CPR and First Aid certified and have experienced a weeklong training program.
“Lael” is a Hebrew word and means “belonging to God”. Our desire is for all to know God and experience His wonderful creation. Camp Lael is perfect for that experience!

Camp Lu Lay Lea
Camp Lu Lay Lea is a Christian summer camp now entering its 69th summer of operation, open to all boys and girls ages 8-14. Lu Lay Lea is located on picturesque Henderson Lake in one of the state’s loveliest regions, with abundant trees and foliage providing a gorgeous backdrop for camp activity. They offer seven one-week sessions, each accommodating up to 86 campers per week (Sunday through Saturday). Young people need positive, constructive, interesting and challenging things to do with their time. Camp Lu Lay Lea structures its schedule to provide these opportunities along with plenty of fun. Campers play, learn, develop their creativity, strengthen their faith in a Christian environment, create new friendships, and grow, all while being surrounded by the charming elegance of Northern Michigan. They strive to give campers an unforgettable summer experience, along with growing their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Camp Sancta Maria
Since 1933, Camp Sancta Maria has been offering young people aged 8 to 16 a summer full of fun, personal growth, and spiritual development.
Camp Sancta Maria offers young men and women ages 8 to 16, a summer full of fun, personal growth, and spiritual development. Our 96 wooded acres in the heart of Northern Lower Michigan is the perfect setting for such a close-knit community.

Michigan Christian Youth Camp
Summer camp at MCYC is a special time.
Every camper will have a chance to spend time doing Arts and Crafts, Leather crafting, archery, fishing, swimming, boating, riflery, dodgeball, octoball, horseback riding, and much more during their typical day.
MCYC’s summer camp is a place where kids can come experience a place that is not typical. It’s where they can put that daily routine behind them and just be themselves. They will meet some of the craziest people that are in love with Jesus. Our team helps connect each camper with Jesus and strengthen their relationship with God while letting the Holy Spirit work through them each day.

For 23 years, since 1995, Oakland Yard Summer Camps has offered parents and campers a fun and exciting place to be, a caring environment and a safe place to spend their summers. Summer camp is about making new friends, learning new skills, opportunity for social interaction and just having new experiences. Oakland Yard is very proud of their excellent staff and the variety of activities that they offer your camper. Get ready to enjoy a fantastic summer!
Oakland Yard has been a valuable resource for parents to keep their kids active throughout the summer months. The Yard offers a flexible schedule of attending programs, allowing to enroll only when you need their services. Their attention to your children is exceptional!
Sloan Museum & Longway Planetarium
Choose from over 30 camps and activities for preschool, elementary, and middle school kids, presented by Longway Planetarium and Sloan Museum educators. Keep your kids learning and having fun all summer long with engaging hands-on science and social studies experiences. 4-5 year-olds will practice their math, measurement, and building skills while exploring topics like weather, space, chemistry, dinosaurs, and much more. Elementary and middle school kids will explore a variety of science, technology, engineering, and math topics, through engaging themes like art, magic, and gardening. Older kids will love our maker lab, model rockets, and dissection activities.

Portage Lake Bible Camp
Portage Lake Covenant Bible Camp is a community that invests in the lives of others. Their unique camp environment is an ideal setting for guests to experience Christ-centered learning and living. Since 1946, Portage Lake has been synonymous with changing lives. Exciting camp programs are just the thing for children, families and young adults. The Camo’s hope is that Portage Lake will become an uplifting and integral part of your group’s development.
Portage Lake is set along the beautiful, wooded shoreline of northwest Michigan. The over 60-acre property includes a private sandy beach, 40 acres of trails and adventure courses, as well as our numerous meeting and lodging facilities. Northern Michigan provides all ranges of weather conditions for guests to play in, and each season brings new activities with it. It is the Camp’s desire that guests are presented with the Truth and leave camp hungry for a deeper spiritual walk and significance.
UofM-Flint Recreation Center Youth Basketball Camp
Basketball camp is a co-ed program, offered for children ages 7 -14.
The cost is $60/week, or $50/week per additional sibling that attends.
Camp runs Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 am – 12 noon.
